As a friendly reminder, those with a current ID from Lawton Public Schools will be able to continue to ride LATS for free during the upcoming Winter Break, just as they can all year.
In April, the Lawton Board of Education renewed a contract that it has had with Lawton Area Transit System since 2017. Under the terms of the agreement, LPS students, faculty and staff may ride LATS for free all year if they show current LPS identification. If they do not show LPS identification, they must pay the fare.
The program, which LPS paid $70,000 for last year, began as a pilot program in 2017.
